Opinion | How Much Stadium Netting is Too Much?

Some arguments are easier to win in a sports bar than on an opinion page. So, as a new baseball season gets underway, this might not be the best place to question something so basic as fan safety, but here goes. It’s about netting — hundreds of feet long, as much as 24 feet high — newly installed at all 30 Major League Baseball parks as well as at most minor league facilities and at spring training sites in Florida and Arizona. When it comes to safety, much of what we do in America, particularly in corporate America, is reactive rather than proactive. Also last season, a man was hit in the eye as he watched the Cubs play at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
